Sony Expected To Drop Ps Vita's Price, and Quit Selling PS Vita 1001

An anonymous source who works very closely with Sony has informed VitaBoys that E3 will bring many changes for the Vita. The most influential of which includes a price drop of $50, making the Vita only cost $150. The other large change coming will be the attempt to quit selling the PS Vita 1001 after the stock runs out, and begin only selling the 2000 model.

Understand that this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. With that being said this same source was correct about every other rumor we have been told. Including last years price drop, and the release of Borderlands 2. What do you think of this rumor, let us know in the comments below.

  1. That sounds about right, if you're getting the 8GB and a game, for $150, you won't be complaining about the price of memory cards until a couple months down the line (assuming you're going physical mostly). It's sneaky though but profit is profit =/

  2. Well, I've loved the psp (bought 3 1001 models or FATs), and I love the vita all the same, so it looks like I'll have to stock up on the FAT vita's before they go extinct. but honestly, from the looks of it, it seems like sony is handling the vita ( in terms of games ) the same way they handled the psp with a few exceptions of course. It's not a bad thing, however, the vita might end up suffering similar problems the way the psp did. The price on the memory cards will deter some people, but overall I think the vita will do just fine once sony decides to do a slight price drop on the memory cards.

  3. I agree that it will help move units which is why Sony might be looking at dropping the price of the system, sadly the memory card price probably wont effect potential new consumers when they see such a nice price on the Vita. So we probably wont be seeing a memory card price drop anytime soon

  4. $150? I think some units could be moved with that price. The memory cards really need a price drop more though, as I don't feel the new $199 price with 8GB memory card is inhibiting in anyway.

  5. That is definitley the same thought I had. The Vita 2000 significantly dropped production costs. So perhaps this is how it would be possible.

  6. I dont see how true that could be unless they sell a standalone vita by itself without a memory card and without a game.
