The update brings some great features to the vita. The update allows voice messages to be sent between friends. It also allows up to a whopping 500 apps to be placed on the vita homescreen. The final feature of the update brings the ability to sync with google calendars. We assume this means a calendar will also be coming to the vita.
The update has not launched as of yet. However make sure to keep checking on it.

Raising the app limit was probably my most requested feature now that I recently imported a 64GB memory card. It was great to have the space, but it sucked that I still couldn't put all of my games (I have a lot of PSP, PS1, PS Minis and PS Mobile games in addition to my Vita games) on the system. But with the new limit I definitely won't have a problem fitting everything on there.

DeleteIt has been working out great! I got everything transferred over easily (I had been using a 4GB card, so there wasn't much content to transfer in the first place), and I've been able to download all of my games onto the card with no problems. If you have the money and need more memory space it's worth it to upgrade. It's hands-down the best purchase I've made for my Vita so far.

DeleteHow about they update the screen from dimming so quickly. Videos, cut scenes, and such should count as "activity". Besides trying to watch videos, games like The Walking Dead, you're constantly having to flick the analog, hit the screen, or touch a button. The update is nice, but we need to start demanding more. I love my Vita, as I did my PSP, but it's time to stop half assing it. More control over our music and photos, apps we want and can use, simple features that even cheap phones come with. Remember when the PSP got the firmware update with the internet browser? That's what an update should feel like.
